Andy was very helpful during the quote visit in giving ideas on stoves to choose and what size to make the fireplace etc. Unlike some others who quoted, he seemed happy to take the time to listen to my questions. We found it beneficial to have the fireplace work done separately (by Andy) before the installation as it meant we knew what size stove to buy to fit the space. I wasn't quite prepared for the amount of soot that emerged during the installation - I should've put more dust sheets down as it gets everywhere. Andy and Tim (?) did clean up after themselves but soot really did get everywhere. They were great at dealing with my curious 2 year old which made things a lot easier. It took us a few weeks to get the plaster repaired from enlarging the fireplace but now it is looking great. It's too warm to use the stove just yet but looking forward to that. The first visit to discuss what we wanted was a real help as Andy’s knowledge and experience gave us the information we needed to make decisions on what log burner we wanted and how we could set it up in the room. The next was to come and remove the old electric fire (which we managed to sell, bonus!) and prep and measure the chimney. Andy came up with a unique solution to allow us to bring our existing wood burner back into operation after it had lain dormant and unused for a few years. He re-modelled our fireplace to create additional airflow and fitted a new chimney flue to allow efficient extraction of smoke & fumes. This work involved cutting into decorative stonework, and although this created significant dust and rubble, he cleared up as he went along taking great care to protect the décor and flooring. Whilst repointing the surrounding fireplace he managed to blend it in with the existing mortar so that there was no obvious sign that there had been a significant alteration to the previous layout. Throughout the whole process he demonstrated honesty & integrity and worked meticulously & diligently addressing our concerns with patience & understanding. He was punctual and the work was carried out within the agreed timescale. He also stayed in communication to ensure the HETA Certificate and flue warranty were registered post-installation. We highly recommend Andy when considering any stove and fireplace design & installation.
