Andy was very helpful during the quote visit in giving ideas on stoves to choose and what size to make the fireplace etc. Unlike some others who quoted, he seemed happy to take the time to listen to my questions. We found it beneficial to have the fireplace work done separately (by Andy) before the installation as it meant we knew what size stove to buy to fit the space. I wasn't quite prepared for the amount of soot that emerged during the installation - I should've put more dust sheets down as it gets everywhere. Andy and Tim (?) did clean up after themselves but soot really did get everywhere. They were great at dealing with my curious 2 year old which made things a lot easier. It took us a few weeks to get the plaster repaired from enlarging the fireplace but now it is looking great. It's too warm to use the stove just yet but looking forward to that. Andy offers a complete service: as well as stove installation, he knocked out our old fire-place cleanly; put us in touch with a very good plasterer; sorted the scaffolding; fitted a shelf above the fire; rendered the chimney walls and also installed a granite hearth which he ordered and delivered to us. From contacting Andy all the way through the process the experience has been professional, friendly and and well explained. The first visit to discuss what we wanted was a real help as Andy’s knowledge and experience gave us the information we needed to make decisions on what log burner we wanted and how we could set it up in the room. The next was to come and remove the old electric fire (which we managed to sell, bonus!) and prep and measure the chimney. Finally the big day when the burner, supplied by Andy at a very competitive rate, the flue, hearth, beam and inner panels were all fitted and we are delighted with the result.
